A People Like their God
Zachariah 12:8 “On that day the LORD will defend the people of Jerusalem; the weakest among them will be as mighty as King David! And the royal descendants will be like God, like the angel of the LORD who goes before them!
At the end of the Time of Jacob’s Trouble, after all nations have gathered against Israel, the Lord will come to defend them. On that day Christ the warrior king and Messiah, will come from heaven to crush the little horn that will wage war against them for three and a half years. According to this scripture, at that time the weakest of them will be like King David. They will bear the likeness of their God. They will be like the angel of the Lord who goes before them.
In other words, as the Jewish people experience the sufferings of the great tribulation, they will become a corporate picture of Christ their Messiah. Because as Christ, they will be despised and rejected by mankind, a people of suffering, and familiar with pain. A people from whom people hide their faces. They will be despised, and held in low esteem; just like Christ was.
In their weakness the Lord will transform them in his image. And like Christ, after they go through that corporate cross as a nation, they will become exalted by God as head of all nations. After they experience the corporate cross, once Christ comes to deliver them, they will receive the royal crown to rule with the Messiah. The same royal crown that Christ, their King will wear as he sits on the throne of David on Mount Zion to rule all the nations of the Earth.
According to Daniel 7:24-27 the little horn, (or antichrist) will be a king, different from all other kings, to whom the holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time (thre and a half years). But at the end of those three and a half years, the court will sit, and the antichrist’s power will be taken away and destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’
